Adrien Broner won his latest fight against Ashley Theophane in a ninth-round knockout victory.
Although the win comes after he was stripped of his junior welterweight title after weighing in 0.4 over the division limit, the attention quickly turned over to Broner and Floyd Mayweather’s ongoing beef.
During his post interview in the DC Armory ring, the boxer called out his former mentor in front of the sold out crowd.
“Somebody I look up to and somebody I admire talked all bad about me.”
Broner said as Mayweather watched ringside with a smile on his face,
“I don’t know how you all like it. I didn’t like it. I learn s— from physical activity, so me and Floyd, we got a feud.”
“I’m a man, at the end of the day, and I come from the streets, from the bottom.
I come from nothing, and I will never let a man disrespect me.
He got to come see me. We got to get it on.”
Despite the abrasive verbal jabs, Mayweather kept his response to Broner peaceful, saying:
“Today is April’s Fool, so that was the biggest joke of the night.
What’s important for Adrien is not just winning, [it’s] life after boxing.”
“That’s what’s very, very important.
Don’t be like me, Adrien; be better than me.
I just want the best for these kids.
We’ll see what the future holds for Adrien Broner, I wish him nothing but the best.”
