Chris Brown was arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon following his standoff with the LAPD on Tuesday (August 30).
The arrest came after police spent hours outside Brown’s house, waiting for a judge to sign a search warrant so they could go inside and investigate a woman’s claim that the trouble-plagued singer threatened her with a gun earlier this morning.
This comes after a woman named Baylee Curran claimed that the singer pointed a gun at her after she admired a piece of jewelry a friend was showing him.
LAPD Lt. Chris Ramirez told reporters,
“Mr. Brown is going to be transported where he will be arrested for ADW — assault with a deadly weapon.”
“The investigation is still ongoing, the search warrant is s still being conducted and evidence is still being collected.”
Chris’ attorney, Mark Geragos, commented on the situation, telling HLN’s Dr. Drew Pinsky,
“My client’s position is that we’re coopering.
There’s no truth to it, and we’re going to let it play out.”
Baylee Curran said there was a man selling diamond watches and necklaces near the kitchen area, she admired a diamond cross but did not touch it or pick it up, and there was a dispute and another man began nudging her toward the door and telling her she needed to leave.
“And that’s when Chris Brown kind of went off, pulled out his gun and said, ‘get the f out,'”
she told E! in a phone interview.
“He was saying, ‘get the f out.’ Like, ‘haven’t I told you guys enough,’ and he was kind of threatening me with the gun, like he’s gonna shoot me with it if I don’t get out,”
Brown’s friend Ray J posted his own video on his Instagram page, decrying the “war zone” outside Brown’s house.
“I’m real upset about today, I’m not happy with how things are handled and how people can take a false story and blow it up into something way more than it should be,”
he said to the camera in the video.
“You look outside and it’s like a war zone for no reason for what some stranger said about something that don’t got nothing to do with nothing.
To react like that, so fast without really knowing the facts, it’s ain’t cool, it’s just not right, it shouldn’t be like this.”
Brown was released on $250,000 bail.
