The actor and comedian Ricky Harris, who made a name for himself as a standup comedian in the 90s and onscreen in films such as Michael Mann’s heist classic Heat, has died aged 54.
A cause of death has not officially been confirmed but Harris’ manager, Cindy Ambers, told the Los Angeles Times that he suffered a heart attack two years ago.
Harris grew up with Snoop Dogg in Long Beach, California, and the two sang together in church.Many may remember Harris for his role in the television series
“Everybody Hates Chris.”

Many of his fellow artists were hit hard upon learning of his death.
Cedric the Entertainer tweeted that he was
“#RIP to the One and Only #RickyHarris Always been a super solid dude,”
Ice Cube also paid tribute to the comedian, writing
“Damn, we lost Ricky Harris.
The world is a little less funny today. RIP homie.”
A visibly upset Snoop paid tribute to Harris in a heartfelt Instagram video.
“Well y’all … I lost one one of my dear friends today, Ricky Harris,”
Snoop says in the clip.
“A lot of y’all may know him as a comedian, but he was a real dear friend of mine. Ricky Harris, rest in peace … Long Beach original.”
