Nicki Minaj has confirmed she is single, according to a tweet posted by Minaj on Thursday morning.
In the tweet, Minaj not only announced her new relationship status, but assured her fans that she was working on new material and is
“looking forward to sharing it with you guys really soon.”
Meek Mill started officially calling Minaj “his girl” in 2015 and they’ve collaborated together musically for Minaj’s The Pinkprint, with the songs
“Buy a Heart”
and earlier projects like Meek’s Dreams Worth More Than Money album, on the tracks
“Bad for You”
“All Eyes On You.”
The breakup rumors really began swirling when Nicki posted a cryptic post after her birthday and reports surfaced of the Philly rapper having a year-long affair with a boutique owner in his hometown.
Last month, the “Starships” rapper sparked breakup rumors with an Instagram post quoting Beyonce’s “Best Thing You Never Had.”
“Thank God u blew it,”
she wrote alongside a picture of her new Chanel slides.
“Thank God I dodged the bullet.
I’m so over u.
Baby good lookin out.
Then, the pair performed separate New Year’s sets in Miami before she made her declaration of independence today.
Just hours after news broke that the couple ended their romantic relationship, the “All Eyes on You” rapper took to social media and shared quite the buzzworthy message.
In the post that has since been deleted, Meek displayed an image of wedge sneakers with the caption,
“If you walk out don’t wear these they wack…..”
“Drake shot Nicki a few texts after hearing she broke up with that loser Meek,”
“Drake’s hella happy they’re over but wants to make sure that Nicki’s cool and that she’s not hurting or anything.
He cares about her and certainly wants to be there for her and be a shoulder for her to lean on and talk to during this breakup.”
But like most people, we’re wondering if that would make J.Lo worried.
We’re told Drake is definitely committed to the “On The Floor” singer and has reassured Jenny From The Block she has nada to fear.
“Things with Drake and JLo couldn’t be better.
They’re going strong [and] Drake doesn’t want JLo to feel threatened or anything,”
the source explained.
“But make no mistake he’s going to be there for Nicki. That’s his girl. His friend. She’s like family,”
the source continued.
“They have a five year plus friendship and that means everything to him.
He’s going to be there for Nicki during this time.”
And, although the wound is still sore, it seems Nicki is not yet ready to get herself back out there as she recently admitted she doesn’t want to get with any guys that are just in it for the games.
But the singer is poised for a busy 2017 after a successful year.
